As the Varsity team moves on to Team State in Battle Creek next Friday and Saturday (2-24/2-25) Pep Talk will be selling shirts for this!! Shirts will go on sale at the store on Thurs. 2-23 during normal store hours. Shirts will be sold for $8. Make sure you get down to Pep Talk to get your TOP 8 IN THE STATE shirt before making the trip to Battle Creek! Spread the word so everyone has a chance to get these shirts!!

Food Table for Conference Varsity/JV

Red Arrows head to Davison

Each level of the Lowell Wrestling Program will be traveling to Davison tonight to take on the Cardinals. Elementary and Middle School start off the action at 5pm. The JV and Varsity will start their action immediately following the completion of the lower levels. Come check out the current and future Arrows on the mat tonight! All competition will be at DAVISON MIDDLE SCHOOL!

HUGE week for Lowell Wrestlers!!

On Wednesday the Red Arrow team will be traveling in two different directions. The Varsity A team will travel to St. Johns HS for a dual against the #1 team in the state of MI as well as being ranked #4 in the country. This dual will match many of the states top wrestlers and is sure to be a great dual to watch! The Varsity B/JV will also be in action as they will travel to Grand Rapids Christian to wrestle the Eagles and also Muskegon Mona Shores HS.

On Saturday Varsity A team will be in action at Detroit Catholic Central where they will wrestle the the D1 #1 and #11 nationally ranked Shamrocks. They will also take on D3 #1 Richmond HS. This is sure to be two great duals for the Red Arrows. The Varsity B team will also be on the road and in action at U of M Dearborn where they will wrestle in a team tourney!

Many great matches ahead this week for the Arrows! Be sure to get out and support them!!!

Successful week for Varsity wrestling!

The Red Arrows concluded a strong week of competition yesterday. On Wednesday the Arrows competed at home and beat Jenison 68-3, beat #7 in D2 Sparta 63-10 and beat #3 in D4 New Lothrop 48-14. The team then traveled to Glenbard North HS in Chicago to wrestle the #26 nationally ranked team. The Red Arrows got off to a hot start which propelled them to a 35-19 win!

Lowell will be in action next week at Greenville on Wednesday 1/4/12. Should be a great dual as always! Come support the Red Arrows!

Varsity in action 12/28 & 29

The varsity team will take to the mat this week on back to back days, Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday the Arrows will be at HOME to take on New Lothrop, Sparta, and Jenison. Wrestling will get underway at 9am in the High School Gymnasium.

On Thursday the Arrows will travel south to take on perennial power, Glenbard North HS of Chicago. Glenbard North is currently ranked at #26 in the country and the Arrows will look to improve on their current #42 national ranking in this highly contested dual with many great match-ups . Action begins in Chicago at 11am.

Updates will be posted on the facebook and twitter page during both days to cover the action.

Lowell Wrestling in 2011 Homecoming Parade

The Lowell Wrestling Club will be in the Homecoming Parade Friday, October 7th. Please contact Dave Dean (ddean@lowellschools.com) and let him know if you would like to be a part of this. Doug Olin will be pulling some hay wagons and the club will provide candy to hand out to the kids at the parade. We need you to be at the Methodist Church by no later than 5:20 to get into the parade line up on Jackson street so we can begin promptly by 6:00. If you would, give us an indication if you and/or your wrestler plans to be a part of it.

Lowell Youth Summer Camp

WRESTLING Cost: $40 (Toddler); $50 (Elementary & Middle School)

Camp Director: Dave Dean

Location: Cherry Creek Gym

The toddler camp is designed to introduce wrestling in a non-intensive way for the young grapplers. The elementary and middle school camps are designed to develop basic positions and skills with wrestlers in the same age group. All camps will be run by the Lowell wrestling coaching staff and varsity wrestlers. Dads and Moms are welcome to stay and participate. Father/Son Campout Night (Thursday, July 15): Actually, a dad, uncle, older brother/cousin or family friend can bring the young wrestler to this evening. We will go tubing at the Double R Ranch in Smyrna on the Flat River. We will have a cook-out/BBQ, play capture the flag, have a bonfire and camp out. The wrestler can come and join the fun any time after 4:00 pm. Please bring something to float down the river on, or tubes can be rented from the Double R for $10. T-shirt and Father/Son night included with the camp fee.

Dates: July 11, 12, 13, 14

Toddler: 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. (drop off as early as 7:30)

3 Arrows place at FloNationals

Congrats go out to Gabe Dean, Andrew Morse, and Gabe Morse for their top 8 finishes at the FloNational tournament at Walsh Jesuit High School in

Gabe Dean finished the tournament in 2nd place but picked up some big wins along the way. Gabe, ranked 8th in the country beat 5th ranked Devin Peterson from the state of Wisconsin. In the finals Gabe took on Morgan McIntosh who is ranked #1 and came up short in an 11-6 loss.

Andrew Morse was able to finish in 3rd place. After losing his first match of the tourney Andrew won 8 straight matches to finish up in 3rd place.

Gabe Morse was able to finish in 8th place at the tournament. Gabe lost to 2 ranked wrestlers along the way.

Great job to these guys and their accomplishments last weekend and representing Lowell Wrestling well!!

HS Wrestling Banquet

This years HS wrestling banquet will be held on March 29, 2011. It is set to begin with the social at 5:45pm in the freshman commons at the high school. Dinner and awards will follow the social.

Cost for this will be $4/person or $12/family. This money will be for the meat and paper products for the night. Also please bring a dish to pass for this evening's meal. If you can send an envelope with your wrestler to schools to allow us to know how many will be attending. Those envelopes can be turned in to Gabe and Andrew Morse or Wade Schlosser.

All HS wrestlers need to get $3 to one of the captains ASAP. They will have a list and will be making sure they get your money.

Come celebrate a great wrestling season!

Morse to wrestle at D1 NCAA Nationals

Congrats go out to Jackson Morse as he was able to qualify for the 2011 NCAA D1 National Wrestling Tournament. Jackson was a 3x State Champ for Lowell and is wrestling as a true freshman for the University of Illinois. He will be in action March 17th with the first session starting at 10am at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. Live streaming coverage will be on espn3.com.

Congrats to MYWAY MS and Elementary teams!!

Last Sunday was a great day for Lowell Wrestling as the middle school and elementary teams were in action at the MYWAY dual team State Championships.

-- The MS team left Battle Creek as the 2011 MYWAY State Champions as they beat Lawton 57-18 in the finals to claim the championship!!

--The elementary team also had a very successful day as they came away as runners-up. The Arrows lost a very close dual to eventual champion, Hartland in the finals.

Great job to both teams on a great weekend of wrestling for all levels of Lowell Wrestling. Keep up all of the good work!!

Red Arrows move to Semi-Finals

The Red Arrows won their quarterfinal match tonight against Stevensville Lakehore with a 45-21 finals score. Wins on the night were Gabe Morse, Andrew Morse, Dan Fleet, Jake Stehley, Garett Stehley, Gabe Dean, Luke Stephens, Kalvin Meyer and Zack Jeffries.

The wrestlers now move on to face nationally ranked St. Johns High School. Action is set to begin at 11:45am @ Battle Creek's Kellogg Arena. Come down and show your support and see a awesome dual.

--State Finals shirts will be on sale today at Pep Talk in downtown Lowell during regular business hours. There are only about 25 shirts left so hurry down to get your hands on them! If supplies last they will then be sold at the High School tomorrow during all lunches.

--Tonights middle school wrestling match against Hastings has been cancelled due to school in Hastings being closed. A reschedule date will be posted when announced. Wrestlers will have today off and resume with normal practice as scheduled tomorrow.

Arrows headed to Team State!

On Friday, the Red Arrows will travel to Battle Creek, Kellogg Arena for the Team State Finals. This year the Arrows will wrestle Stevensville Lakeshore in the quarterfinals. Action is set to begin at 7:45PM Come out and support as they guys look to bring home the 4th state title. Semi-Finals are 11:45AM Saturday, with the finals then starting at 4PM.

Lowell Middle School wrestlers win WMMSC Tourney

The Lowell MS team was in action Saturday for the West Michigan Middle School Conference team tournament. The Red Arrows were able to win the 16 team tournament with great team performances throughout the day. The boys beat Coopersville, Caledonia, Belding in route to the finals. In the finals they were able to avenge their early season loss to Greenville and win by a score of 59-48. Great job to the guys and good luck as the season continues!

10 individuals heading to the Palace!

10 Red Arrow wrestlers advanced through the individual regionals today at Hamilton HS. The Arrows came away with 5 champions, 2 runners-up, 1 third and 2 fourth place finishes. Champions on the day were Gabe Morse (140) Andrew Morse (145) Dan Fleet (152) Wade Schlosser (171) Gabe Dean (189). Taking 2nd was Jake Stehley (160) and Garett Stehley (189). Wrestling back and earning a trip to the State Finals was Bailey Jack (3rd @ 103) Kanon Dean (4th @ 135) and Luke Stephens (4th @ 285).

--All of the wrestlers now advance on to wrestle at The Palace of Auburn Hills, March 3-5. First round will begin Thursday, March 3 at 2pm. Good Luck to all Lowell wrestlers!!

Regional Champs!!

The Arrows were crowned regional champs tonight at Lowell High School. The Arrows beat Hastings in the Regional Semi-Finals 49-24 to advance to the Finals where they took on Eaton Rapids. They were able to win 12 of 14 matches in the dual to come away with a 66-12 win.

Lowell will now advance to the Team State Finals on Feb 25-26 at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek. Team State is a seeded tournament and Lowell will learn who their first opponent will be on Sunday.

Varsity drops Dual, wins Tourney to share conference title

The Varsity team had an up and down couple of nights as they were able to split competition with Greenville and grab a share of the league title.

--In Thursday nights action the Arrows were beat by Greenville 34-27. It came down to the final match of the dual and just could not pull it off. Check out all of the action on Flowresting.org where each match is posted in it's entirety. Great chance to see the Arrows if you missed this one!

--On Friday night the Arrows returned to action in the conference tournament and were able to pull out the win by a half point over Greenville to capture a share of the league. League champions were, 119-Zack Jeffries, 125-Kalvin Meyer, 140-Gabe Morse, 145-Andrew Morse, 189-Garett Stehley, 215-Gabe Dean. All 14 wrestlers placed at the tournament and was a great showing for the boys.

Lowell will begin with Team District action this Wednesday @ Ionia High School. Start time is 6pm. Individual Districts will be on Saturday @ Middleville High School with a 9am start time. Come out and show your support for the Arrows!!

~Youth Wrestling Night~

It will be youth wrestling night Thursday night 2/3/11 at the Lowell High School for the match against Greenville. Any youth wrestler who shows up will be admitted free into the wrestling match. Parents we ask that if your child is planning to attend that you email lowellwrestlingevents@gmail.com with your child's name so that they can be put on a pass list and get in for free. Any adults with them will be asked to pay. The Mighty Arrow matches will begin at approx 5:15pm. JV wrestling at 6pm and Varsity to follow at 7pm.

With Youth Night going on at the HS there also will not be any youth practices Thursday at Cherry Creek or the Middle School. All wrestlers are encouraged to come support the Red Arrows as they take on state ranked and rival Greenville.

Greenville Dual Rescheduled

Varsity team takes down Northview

The Arrows beat Northview Wednesday night in a great team dual. Final score was 46-18. Many matches went the distance and everyone wrestled hard.

The Arrows will be off this weekend and will host Greenville Wed. night at the Lowell High School Gym. You do not want to miss this one!

Varsity Red and White do well in Ohio

The Arrows traveled down to Mason, Ohio to take on some of Ohio's best competition. The Varsity Red team placed 3rd in the team standing s and came away with 3 individual champions in Gabe Morse, Andrew Morse and Gabe Dean. The Varsity White team wrestled at Kings High School and finished runner-up to host Kings HS. Lone champion for the White team was Matt Hoogenboom at 152.

Action will continue this week as the Arrows will take on a tough Northview team on Wednesday at NV High School. JV wrestling will start at 6pm with the Varsity dual to follow at 7pm. Hope to see everyone at Northview!

MYWAY Elementary & Middle School teams in action Friday @ Lowell

Lowell will be putting together 2 elementary school teams and 1 middle
school team for Friday night. Coach Taylor, Boulton and Dood will be
setting these up. Wrestling starts at 6:00. Please be at the high
school by 5:00. We will need parents to help set-up, clean-up, work
tables, take money at the door and work the concession stand. Let me
know when and where you can help.

The cost for each wrestler will be $5 and this includes pizza after all
duals are completed. The gate fee will be $2/person.

We are also asking for parents to provided plastic cups or two (2) - 2
liters of pop.

Arrows win Gary River Memorial

The Varsity Red team capped off a good week of wrestling by winning the Gary River Memorial in Lowell this past weekend. Lowell beat Fremont and Byron Center in their pool. They then beat Hudsonville in the semi-finals and D1 state ranked Hartland in the finals!

This week Lowell will wrestle at home against East Grand Rapids on Wednesday, and will travel to Mason, OH for a tournament on Saturday.

MYWAY Youth Tournament Registration

MYWAY tournament registration procedure:

You can find all MYWA tournaments at www.mywaywrestling.com FYI: Novice tournaments are for those that are just beginning. They are defined as anyone that is within their first two years of wrestling. If someone is hosting a MYWA novice tournament it will indicate “novice” on the tournament location. If you want to wrestle in any MYWA tournaments, here are the steps:

1. Pull up the tournament flyer on the MYWA website and look up the fee for that tournament (each tournament is different so you need to check the fee). Often times various flyers are also in the wrestling room by the Lock Box that hangs on the wall. We also try to have envelopes there but sometimes we do run out.

2. Get an envelope and put the wrestlers name, the tournament name, the amount enclosed, and your phone number on the envelope

3. Put the tournament fee in the envelope or a check made out to “Lowell Wrestling Club” for the tournament fee amount

4. Drop the envelope in the lock box on the wrestling room wall by 7 pm Thursday evening in the week of the tournament

**Please note that Tameron Hough will remove all envelopes at 7 pm every Thursday night. She has to register all the wrestlers through MYWA by 10 pm each Thursday for each tournament that is held during the weekend. She will give one club check for the grand total to someone attending each tournament location.

5. If you are registered with the club, you have a MYWA membership which makes you eligible to compete in these MYWA tournaments. If you are registered with the Mighty Arrows (4, 5, and 6 year olds), you do NOT have a MYWA membership through the Lowell Club.

Red Arrows travel to New Lothrop

The Varsity Red and Varsity White teams will be competing at the New Lothrop Invite on Saturday. The Arrows will look to put on a good showing as they compete against many tough teams and individuals, including State and Nationally ranked St. Johns! Competition starts a 9am. Look forward to seeing everyone there!

Also the JV team will compete in an individual tournament on Friday night in New Lothrop. Action will begin at 4:30pm.

Last Call for Gear orders

The holidays have created difficulties for people getting in their gear order forms. Thus, our final decision is to close the orders on Tuesday night, January 4^th. This way you can bring the attached gear order forms to David or Bethny Dean. David will be at the varsity practices and also at the Mighty Arrow practice on Monday, Jan 3^rd at Cherry Creek from 5:30 to 6:30. Beth will be at Cherry Creek Tuesday, Jan 4^th from 6:15 to 7:15. You will find her in one of the rooms just inside the door. I will have an envelope with me that you can place your orders in. This is the absolute deadline. This order will go in on Wednesday morning, Jan 5^th with a rush in order to get the items here quickly.

**If you are ordering the fight shorts, please order by waist size. For example, note on the form: 26”, 32”, 34”, etc.

**Reminder to all parents and wrestlers that you NEED to bring food on Tuesday for this event. We will have many wrestlers participating and working at this event. Also families are OK to eat off this but we just ask that you please bring your item for the food table. Varsity knocked off the Cavemen from Mishawaka last night 39-27 in a
great dual that had the Middle School gym rockin'. Many great matches
all night! Lowell will head to Rockford on Wednesday to take on
Rockford and Lakeshore. Wrestling starts in Rockford @ 5pm.

Fan/Wrestler Gear Options 2010

Andrew Morse's design of wrestling gear is now available for sale. All items are available for sale to everyone, not just wrestlers. Attached is the flyer. The items will NOT be in by Christmas. We will be sending in the order December 29th so if they are Christmas presents then unfortunately you will just have to wrap up a picture….it will be worth it, they are super cool!

Things to note:
1. All items are available in youth sizes as well.
2. David has the samples and showed them to the varsity today.
3. If you sold more than 40 pies, your varsity wrestler will receive one of each item on the attached flyer except the singlet. However, he still needs to send me the attached form filled out, just do not enclose money, by the total write "pies".

4. If you sold more than 40 pies but are below 9th grade, you have the choice of number three OR a free wrestling club membership, it is one or the other, not both. Again, the singlet is NOT part of the award for selling 40 pies.

Once you fill out the form, I HIGHLY suggest you drop it in the mail to me at:

Mishawaka coming to town!

Fridays dual vs. Mishawaka (IN) will be held at Lowell Middle School.
The start time is 7pm for the Varsity and B team duals! Mishawaka is
one of the top teams in the state of Indiana with many individuals who
are also ranked at the top of their weight class. Come out and support
the guys for this big Friday night dual. Lets pack the Lowell Middle

Reminder: Youth Sign-Ups/Gear Trade

Reminder to all that sign-ups for youth wrestling is tomorrow Dec. 14,
and Thursday Dec. 16. The sign-ups will be from 6-8pm at Cherry Creek
Elementary. Also, do not forget to bring in your old gear (ie. shoes,
singlets...) for the exchange/swap to help keep the cost of the sport
down. Any kid age 4 and up is eligible to be part of Lowell Youth
Wrestling Club.

Schedule Addition

A new date has been added to the schedule. This Friday, December 10,
the Varsity and JV will be wrestling St. Rita HS out of Chicago. St.
Rita is one of the top programs in the state of Illinois. JV matches
will start @ 6pm and Varsity will begin @ 7pm. This will be a HOME
event with the location TBA. More info will be posted as it becomes
available. Mark your calendars to come out and support the Red Arrows
this Friday!!

MYWAY Wrestlers going to EMU Friday

If you are not driving your child to EMU on Friday we plan to arrive no
later then 4:30 PM. Please have them at the back parking lot of the
Lowell Middle School at 1:45 as the Van will be leaving at 2:00 pm
heading East. If your along the way and need transportation arraignments
please contact Rob Stehley at 810-275-4964 or Coach Matt Dood at
616-813-1602

We need to weigh-in at the EMU Field House at 4:30 PM on Friday, anyone
that needs a ride I will be heading East from Lowell starting at 2:00 PM
and our Dual will start at 5:00 PM with the College Match at 7:00 PM.

We might need a couple parents to help out with score clock and match
sheet during the MS Dual. Lowell/Flat River Coach Matt Dood will be
Coaching the Flat River Team and any parent is welcome to join in and
help Coach your wrestler.
There is a 1 lb allowance for travel on Friday and we need to depart
from the back of the Lowell Middle School (back lot) at 2:00 pm. and
ask that the kids wear a Local School team Wrestling Singlet.

Please send a few dollars or snacks for after weigh-ins and during the
evening. The College match is at 7:00 PM.

Please have the wrestlers bring headgear, mouthguards, a Dr's note for
any skin related issues.

Exchange/Donation Program

Dear Wrestling Families,

Our program is growing, and to make it easier for more families to get
involved we would like to keep the initial investment of getting into
the sport of wrestling at a minimum. By the time a family pays to join
the club, buy new shoes, headgear and singlets, each child can cost over
$250 dollars.

Dan Stephens has offered to help me set up an exchange/donation program
for wrestling gear. We all have left over wrestling gear lying around
our houses that can be put to good use. We are looking for families to
donate their old gear (shoes, headgear, singlets) and we will sort and
store this equipment in the small room at Cherry Creek. This gear would
be available for all our wrestlers to exchange for another item, to
purchase at a minimal cost (we are thinking $5-$10 per item) or to be
donated to families in need. This is not intended to be a money maker,
any money collected will be donated to the club, but it is a way to help
all of us during these difficult economic times.

If you have equipment to donate, please drop off during youth signups
which are scheduled next week, 6-8 pm on Tuesday and Thursday (Dec. 7
and 9) or bring to any wrestling practice and give to Dan Stephens, Kim
Taylor or Kevin Taylor.

Thank you for your help in making the Lowell Wrestling program the best!

Pie making Volunteers! We need your help!!

Saturday from 7:30 pm to 9 pm at the High School Cafeteria—we need volunteers to assemble boxes and prepare for pie making on Sunday

Sunday starting at 8 am at the High School Cafeteria---pie making goes until early afternoon (usually around noon/1 pm). You can come in shifts or for the entire time period, just let me know when you can work.

Pick up starts at 10 am on Sunday and goes until 3 pm—remember you are responsible for picking up all the non-donated pies that you sold and distributing them unless the person you sold to is picking up their pie during this time.

Youth Dual Team Practice

Pie Sale Count

Hello everyone:

This is the last week of the pie sale. Please note the following:

1. Email the number of pies you have sold by Friday, November 5th. Please let Bethny Dean know how many of the sold pies are donated to FROM.

2. Turn in your pie packets on or before Friday, November 5th (with all the paid funds) with one of these options:

a. Give it to Coach David Dean at the high school. His office is in the Freshman Wing.

b. Give it to Coach Dood at the middle school.

c. Give it to Coach Cichocki at the middle school.

d. Drop it off at the Dean house or send it to the Dean house—see address below

If these options are not convenient, just let me know and we will work with you.

Youth Wrestling Dates & Times

Dates: January 4th – March 24th
Days / Location: Tuesday's and Thursday's @ Cherry Creek Elementary
Cost: $65 in district $100 out of district

Red Group: Tuesday's 5:30-6:30 pm,
Thursday's 5:30-6:30 pm.

White Group: Tuesday's 6:30- 7:45 pm,

The Lowell Youth Wrestling practices will be staffed with qualified instructors – appointed by the high school coaching staff. The goal of this program will be to properly evaluate the youth wrestlers abilities, place them in groups to maximize all wrestler's potential to train and learn. The coaching staff will provide input to the parents regarding the placement of their children in respect to experience level and capabilities. Emphasis will be place on basic fundamental that will allow the wrestler to build upon in the future and also compete at any youth organized wrestling competition.

**Note** Practice times will very slightly for the "White Group" during the month of February to accommodate the Middle School wrestling Schedule

to pick up a packet from Coach Dean at the high school or Coach Cichocki
at the middle school. Pie sales go towards out team trips and some new
warm-up gear! The pies that are sold can also be donated to families in
